Information requests should be posted or emailed to Merseyside BioBank or sent via our data request form.
The following information provides guidance on what information are available and what we will require from you prior to us undertaking the request. If you are unsure whether or not you request is within the area covered by this Local Environmental Records Centre then try this tool.

Merseyside BioBank Data on the NBN Atlas
A portion of the species information we hold is available via the National Biodiversity Network Atlas for non-commercial use (licenced as CC-BY-NC). Species observations available there are currently only available at 2km square resolution. This enables use of the data we manage for a wide variety of academic, conservation and public uses at national and regional scale free of charge.
We manage four datasets on the NBN Atlas which split the record by verification status and general source as described below;
Merseyside BioBank (verified) – Contains all records we hold for North Merseyside which have been formally verified and have not been sent to us by members of MBAN.
Merseyside BioBank (unverified) – Contains all records we hold for North Merseyside which have not been formally verified and have not been sent to us by members of MBAN.
Merseyside BioBank Active Naturalists (verified) – Contains all records we hold for North Merseyside which have been formally verified and have been sent to us by members of MBAN.
Merseyside BioBank Active Naturalists (unverified) – Contains all records we hold for North Merseyside which have not been formally verified and have been sent to us by members of MBAN.
North Merseyside Local Species Data (DEFRA Grant 23169) – An exception to the above datasets. These data have been provided as part of a DEFRA funded initiative to release data at full resolution for commercial use. As such these data are licenced as CC-BY (can be used commercially with attribution). The dataset contains records of invasive and non-native species as defined by the ‘non-native species secretariat’ where we were able to source appropriate permission from the original data provider.
